Under limited supervision, the Public Swimming Pool Program Consultant provides technical assistance on plan reviews, training, and interpretation of rules and regulations to public health districts, industry partners, and citizens/visitors of Georgia. Contributes to the planning and/or development of policies, rules and implementation of the program initiatives. Evaluates district/county programs for compliance with State and /or federal guidelines and departmental goals. This position is critical for the creation and delivery of plan review training to EH working in the Public Swimming Pool Program locally.

The position will be under the supervision of the EH Public Swimming Pool Director. The consultant will work on coordinating a curriculum that is developed and delivered through a contract with selected university staff. The need for the consultant position is to serve as a trainer for district liaisons/standards.

This is a grant funded position and is subject to available grant funds.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates and monitors project for implementing a public swimming pool plan review training course for EHS statewide.
• Provides technical assistance and training within the public swimming pool program environmental health specialty.
• Monitors’ database for trends and metrics to develop training.
• Develops and updates policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines for the program on plan review.
• Monitor, assess and evaluate the pool program performance on inspections, permitting and plan review.
• Plans, coordinates, conducts, and implements educational and training for district/county EHS using in-person, virtual, pre-recorded or hybrid formats.
• Provides technical assistance and advice to district/county EHS to develop, implement and improve program training.
• Maintains professional knowledge of current laws, policies, model codes, trends, and developments in the assigned environmental health specialty and applies pertinent new knowledge to training.
• Compiles needs assessments, reports and evaluations on training and submits in appropriate format as required.
