Job Title: Purchasing Agent

Purchasing Goal: To buy quality items and obtain the best price, short lead times, warranty consideration and freight consideration through the proper purchasing practices.

Responsibilities:

• Read and Understand the Work Instruction for the Department
• Review MRP reports and create Purchase Orders for inventory items
• Enter Purchase Orders into DataWorks for non-inventory items
• Send out Purchase Orders to Suppliers via e-mail
• Make sure that Acknowledgements for Purchase Orders are Received
• File Closed Purchase Orders and receipts on shared drive
• Expedite Deliveries with vendors and Update DataWorks
• Assist or lead in AOP projects for Productivity Savings with current or new vendors
• Work with Vendors on VMI, Kanban and stocking arrangements
• Meet with key suppliers and complete the Scorecard on the vendors performance
• Count inventory as needed
• Troubleshoot Problems and Find Solutions for part shortages and work with Lifecycle on alternate part suggestions.
• Coordinate Returns to the Vendors for Warranty and Non-Conforming Parts, and handle inventory transactions and credits for the returns with Account Payable
• Help Reconcile Invoice Discrepancies with Account Payable
• Knowledge of an ERP System
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Email and Outlook
• Communicate Well with Other Departments
• Other duties assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred
• 2+ years Purchasing Experience preferred
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and follow through with assignments
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to solve problems
• Strong communication skills
