Position: Purchasing Agent, GS 09

Division: Los Angeles Field Office

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Working Hours: 8:15 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (hours may vary depending on the needs of the office)

Salary: GS-09: $66,134.00-$85,971.00

Full Performance level: GS-09

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Performs procurement functions for appropriated fund purchases by using accepted practices and procedures to resolve problems and deviations from procedure.
  • Uses seasoned judgement and experience to analyze and recommend solutions for complex procurements where no precedent has been established.
  • Decides on purchasing strategy by analyzing specifications, sole source justifications, item descriptions, historical purchases and previous bidders, catalogs, etc.
  • Plans, coordinates, and attends site visits which involve company and government representatives and determines discussions to insure any necessary or potential changes to scopes of work are made.
  • Negotiates and awards purchase orders for services that involve the use of instruments that are not firm fixed-price or involve specialized services, specialized construction, or specially manufactured equipment.

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS 09: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 08 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as follows:

  • Utilized automated systems to maintain budget accounts in support of operational and/or administrative expenditures.
  • Communicated and coordinated with internal and external customers to exchange information.
  • Provided advice and guidance on a variety of established policies and procedures regarding work and/or procurement functions.
  • Resolved discrepancies or omissions to ensure information is consistent, accurate, and adheres to relevant policies.
