T&T Supermarket Inc., Canada’s largest Asian grocery chain, headquartered in Vancouver, BC, is now HIRING! A small sourcing office in Los Angeles will be set up to grow T&T’s vendor base with American food suppliers.

Headquartered in Richmond, BC, T&T Supermarkets is the largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada, operating stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. The stores feature an expansive variety of fresh produce, meat, seafood, Asian packaged goods, trendy kitchenware and gifts, as well as in-store kitchens and bakeries. T&T Supermarkets was founded in Vancouver in 1993 and is now led by second-generation successor and CEO, Tina Lee. In 2009, T&T Supermarkets was acquired by Loblaw Companies Limited.

Major Responsibilities:

· Work closely with processing centers, merchandising and supply chain to conduct product evaluation and improvement projects, ensure products comply with regulatory requirement, product specification and customer’s satisfaction.

· Review vendor program, product specification, labels and claims for approval. Implement Food Safety and Quality Assurance program and keeps improvement to ensure compliance on FDA / USDA, GFSI / HACCP and industry standard.

· Liaise with FDA / USDA / GFSI and other FSQA inspectors on the inspection. Take or coordinate corrective action to ensure all business practice comply with the regulation and standard.

· Provide updates and training to the related team members and business partners on regulatory and industry technology changes, suggest action plan and monitors the progress of the plan.

· Investigate customer complaints with vendors and initiates corrective actions. Provide clear corrective action feedback to vendors and monitors improvements progress.

· Conduct regular product safety and quality inspections at the vendor’s processing sites.

· Maintain, update, and improve T&T vendor FSQA control data system.

· Conduct trend analysis and summary report to the management team regularly for the improvement.

· Perform any other duties assigned by the superior(s)

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

1. Post-Secondary degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Public Health Inspection, or other related disciplines.

2. Sound knowledge of both US and International regulatory or requirements for the food product and labelling.

3. HACCP Certificate and possesses 2 or more years of work experience in food safety, quality assurance or related field.

4. Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to make convincing & assertive recommendations.

5. Capable to work independently and in a team.

6. Demonstrates flexibility in handling multiple tasks, works in various environment condition and follows different work schedules including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays when needed

7. Detail orientated and the ability to work under pressure and meets deadlines.

8. Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, other Asian language or Spanish is a bonus.

9. Good data base management skill, computer skills, project scheduling, follow up and result summary skills.

10. Willing to drive with valid driver license and travel.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
