POSITION SUMMARY:


The QC Lead Technician is the first line of support for Technicians and acts as a backup to the QC Supervisor when necessary. Performs assigned tasks to assure adherence to food safety, quality, procedures and customer specifications. Controls and dispositions nonconforming materials. Audits, conducts inspections, reports non-conformances, and assists in root cause analyses

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Evaluates all batch and finished good samples per specifications as required.
  • Evaluates all raw materials per specifications as required.
  • Maintains accurate records of all test results and generates certificates of analysis per customer request.
  • Inspects and releases equipment/production areas after sanitation work is completed.
  • Routinely conducts in-house and customer sanitation QA/QC audits. Audits all food handling areas for compliance.
  • Audits product set-up sheets and assists with updates as required.
  • Conducts calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
  • May arrange pick-up of samples for outside testing.
  • Actively involved in the 3rd party audit process and preparation.
  • Participates in various special projects as instructed by QC management.
  • Conducts daily scale and metal detector checks of the packing room equipment.
  • Evaluates production lines for all QC procedures and specification requirements.
  • Audits and assures employee compliance to GMP guidelines. Assists with monthly internal GMP/Food Safety/Personnel Safety audits as required.
  • Investigates customer complaints against retain samples.
  • Audits sanitation of blending and production equipment.
  • Assists in other areas including Operations and Administrative.
  • Assists in monitoring compliance to Halal, Kosher, and other product specific certification protocols.
  • Reviews ingredients and finished product for age. Aids in the handling of obsolescent materials.
  • Plays active role in the Recall and Mock Recall procedures as required.
  • Creating and researching continuous improvement efforts for Quality Assurance and Operations.
  • Able to effectively and accurately enter various types of reports into database system.
  • All other duties as required by Management.

Additional Lead Duties:

  • Take a leadership role in food safety/quality investigations as required.
  • Act as a resource on shift for both Quality Technicians and other plant employees.
  • Perform service and troubleshooting on lab equipment as needed
  • Assist in maintaining calibration documents for equipment
  • Lead training sessions with Quality employees
  • Work with Operations to prioritize issues and resolve conflicts on shift.
  • Provide documentation and written reports to customer service and management for review as needed

  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
