Position: Quality Technician I

Department: Quality Assurance

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 12-8:30pm

Location: Central Point Site, 5428 Bierson Way

Pay: $17 per hour, differential pay rate of $19/hr available for this afternoon shift.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary: This position is responsible for performing quality checks at various stages of the production process and assisting with continual process improvement by ensuring conformance to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) throughout the facility. This person willingly assists with special projects as assigned, thereby contributing to the overall successful operation and profitable growth of the organization.

This person must be detail oriented and able to perform work in a timely and accurate manner. They must be able to maintain confidentiality as they come into contact with proprietary and sensitive documents and information. They should have the ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot. Strong interpersonal and interdepartmental communication and customer service skills are essential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

• Accurately prepare & complete reports for Quality Management Team with keen attention to detail.
• Perform Final Quality inspections of Finished Goods.
• Perform incoming label review and release.
• Provide support to the Microbiology Laboratory.
• Perform allergen checks after each allergen production.
• Perform routine facility monitoring and inspection of ingredients, components, and supplies.
• Submit Quality related inventory transfer requests.
• Process reserve samples & return sales orders.
• Assist with the implementation of the Quality Hold process.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Maintain working knowledge of applicable certification bodies and/or regulatory compliance requirements.
• Assist with efficient team operation and continuous process improvement, by participating actively in all team and departmental meetings as requested.

• Regularly lead and/or assist others with projects as assigned on process improvement with the Quality Management Team.

• Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety rules, maintaining a good safety attitude, and ensuring that department employees participate in all required safety training or meetings.
• Work with Quality staff to place orders for supplies as needed.
• Assist with pest control inspection and documentation.
• Issue items to R&D team as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Associate degree in related field; and/or five years related experience and/or training in a quality and/or laboratory setting and continuous process improvement techniques; preferably experience in more than one industry related position.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, botanical guides, plant identification manuals, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers. Strong attention to detail, with solid knowledge of grammar and punctuation, ability to proofread accurately and consistently.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts, and to understand communications from others. Ability to maintain composure, listen and respond appropriately, and deal pleasantly with one-on-one communications either in person or over the phone.

Licenses and Associated Requirements

Current valid Driver’s License. Ability to travel occasionally.

Technical Requirements

• Excellent math and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
• Proficient in Office365.
