Sanford Federal is looking for someone to perform JEWISH RABBI SERVICES in support of military religious and worship activities. This service requires to provide support to the Chaplains and Religious Affairs Specialists, and Religious Support Office (RSO) Department of the Army (DA).

The services of a Jewish Rabbi fall under the Ft. Belvoir Chaplain’s Religious Support Program as defined in the Command Master Religious Program (CMRP). The mission of the Chaplain’s Religious Support Program is to provide military religious support activities that meet the religious requirements of Soldiers, Families, and authorized civilians. The primary goal of the Chaplains’ Religious Support Program is to ensure the free exercise of religious preference

Duties and Responsibilities:

· The Jewish Rabbi shall conduct Jewish religious worship services and ministrations sufficiently educated in Jewish Law (Halakha) and tradition to teach and possessing the skills, knowledge, training, and certifications, such as Semikhah, necessary to perform the tasks described herein.

· Must be in good standing with their religious endorsing agent or equivalent, knowledgeable of the Jewish faith, beliefs, and traditions and able to provide services to meet the guidelines set by the Torah for Military Services

· Shall be experienced and fully qualified to perform the required services without any supervision or direction by Government personnel.

· Shall conduct weekly Jewish Services meeting the guidelines set by the Torah for the Military Services.

· Attend planning and coordination meetings and provide necessary input for services.

· Worship at weekly Friday evening services and specified Saturday morning services; worship at Jewish holiday services; the conduct or supervision of religious education as it is determined to be an EERS; and ministry for life-cycle events, pastoral care, and counseling that is specific to Jewish ecclesiastical requirements.

· Coordinate worship services, educational classes, life-cycle events, pastoral care, and counseling with the RSO, the Jewish Activities Coordinator, and the Fort Belvoir Jewish Congregation Council as needed.

· The personnel shall demonstrate dignity and respect, keeping in harmony with the values and norms of the Army Chaplain Corps.

· The personnel shall refrain from using offensive language such as swearing, cursing, disparaging language, and other such communications.

· Shall conduct 52 weekly services

· The weekly service shall begin at 18:00 on Saturdays or in accordance with the CMRP.

· Services shall be approximately one to two hours in duration

· The personnel shall arrive sufficiently early to prepare site for services

Qualifications:

· The Rabbi shall possess ecclesiastical endorsement from an authorized Jewish endorsing authority

· Be a person of faith, ordained by an organization recognized by either the Aleph Institute, Jewish Welfare Board, or other endorsing agency recognized by the Department of Defense committed to the Ft. Belvoir Jewish community and familiar with the broad spectrum of Jewish tradition and practice.

· This position requires working It requires maturity, responsibility, integrity, flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, organization, and management skills

· Must have the ability to work with the Fort Belvoir Jewish Congregation Council and a demonstrated flexibility in serving the full spectrum of Jewish traditions and beliefs (Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, and Reconstructionist), and a proven record of commitment to and serving a community equivalent to Active, Reserve, and Retired Military.
