**Hiring Bonus of $1000 to be paid after six months of employment**

Bethany Recovery Center provides high quality, evidence-based substance abuse and mental health treatment for women in a residential setting. The program also provides specialized services for pregnant/postpartum women whose infants live on-site with mom while she receives services. Our program uses an integrated, multi-disciplinary, strength based, person/family centered, and trauma responsive approach to treatment.
The Recovery Advocate (RA) will be primarily responsible for playing a vital role in helping clients achieve their treatment goals. This individual will also develop a supportive, professional relationship with clients and provide guidance to reinforce new skills and behaviors. The RA is an integral member of the treatment team. The RA’s presence and supervision ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for all clients. RA staff share their observations and collaborate with the primary therapist and other treatment staff, helping to shape the treatment plan, to ensure that residents' needs are communicated and met within a safe and supportive environment that enhances their ability to meet their treatment goals.
This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in staff trainings on topics including substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health disorders, evidence-based treatments , client privacy policies, non-violent crisis prevention and intervention, and successfully implement this knowledge;
- Actively participate in assigned activities with clients, and encourage positive interaction and growth among the residents;
- Successfully follow the treatment plan guidelines;
- Intervene in client interactions and activities in a caring and consistent manner when the need arises;
- Assist in crisis prevention and management as needed, following the nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) practices;
- Oversee the residents’ daily routines to include but not limited to meal time, study time, outings, bedtime, assigned jobs, and other residential activities;
- Serve as an advocate for residents by identifying strengths and issues or behaviors that would warrant attention during treatment;
- Provide resident advocacy at staff meetings by updating the team on information related to needs, behaviors, and interactions with peers and staff, to help inform the treatment planning process;
- Accompany clients to off-campus activities as assigned;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Demonstrated ability to treat patients with dignity and empathy while holding them accountable to program rules and expectations;
- Strong listening and communication skills;
- Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a vehicle on behalf of the agency;
- Prior experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders, preferred but not required;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must demonstrate ability to provide consistently excellent and compassionate customer service;
- Ability to work independently to complete assignments;
- Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with client health information;
- Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
- Demonstrated temperament to work and care for women with substance use and cooccurring mental health disorders and their children in a residential setting;
- Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
- Active motor vehicle license for anyone who would be transporting clients;
- Maintain a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage;
- Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions;
- Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
