SUMMARY: Responsible for structure repairs and maintenance for all self-contained refrigeration units.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts regular on-site inspections of refrigeration and electrical circuitry for various units and other related equipment to determine needed repairs. Troubleshoots and makes appropriate repairs to diesel engines and generators.

EXPERIENCE: Must have four (4) years of verifiable experience in maintenance and repair of self-contained refrigeration units including troubleshooting and experience with Micro Processing units. Need working knowledge of refrigeration and electrical circuitry for Thermo King and Carrier Micro Processing thin line containerized unites including wiring diagrams and schematics. EPA type 2 or Universal certified to service transport refrigeration equipment prior to employment is essential.

* A journeyman or higher HVAC license with a minimum of two (2) years field experience may b e substituted for the requirements listed in above.

Must have working knowledge of the following:

- Diesel engines and generators

- Ability to enter all work into a maintenance system using an electronic device

*Must be EPA certified to service Transport Refrigeration Equipment. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.

*Must have knowledge of safety methods working with hazardous waste materials and maintain a safe working environment.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Must be able to read, understand and work from service directives and technical instructions. Will be accountable for meeting proficiency, safety, and quality requirements.

OTHER: Must have toolbox with lock, and an adequate supply of personal tools for use in accomplishing the above repairs. All tools must be of good quality and available for inspection prior to employment.

Must have legible penmanship.

Must meet physical requirements of position.

*All candidates must complete and pass Crowley's Reefer Qualifications and skills test prior to employment. The test will be based on basic refrigeration theory, troubleshooting using a meter, schematic reading, and soldering.
