IMG Citrus, a leading integrated Citrus grower and marketer, based in Vero Beach Florida, is looking for a Regional Harvesting Leader. Located in Indian River County, IMG Citrus operates as one of Florida's main distributors of fresh citrus. The company is vertically integrated --farming over 5000 acres in Florida, and operating a state of the art Packinghouse, and a 1,000 pallet refrigerated distribution center. SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The regional harvesting manager will oversee and manage all aspects of crops harvested in his/her region with the objective of optimizing yield, pack-out, grower return, and fruit availability for the customers while controlling harvesting costs. This position will be a member of the Crop Management Team and participate in weekly planning, forecasting and scheduling meetings. Responsibilities include fruit evaluation, yield estimations, crew management, crew placement, pick rate management, quality control, H2A state and federal regulations compliance, and ensuring safe work procedures/conditions. Oversees and manages fruit testing procedures,harvest set up and coordinates with independent contractors and in-house H2A crews. Provides monthly crop forecast updates to the crop management team. Enforces and manages company food safety processes. Manages pick, roadside and haul rates with company crews and independent contractors. Assists with scouting for pests and diseases of crops and groves

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conduct crop assessments in July, September and December
• Provide monthly crop forecast updates to Crop Management Team
• Participate in weekly Crop Management Team Meetings
• Participate in the weekly harvesting scheduling process.
• Daily crew placement and management
• Coordinate with, schedule and oversee independent contractors.
• Responsible for all company H2A harvesting operations.
• Responsible for maximizing boxes per crew day specific to company H2A crews.
• Oversees/implements safety protocol and procedures for company H2A crews.
• Oversee and engage in weekly safety meetings specific to company H2A crews.
• Research and engage in the latest rule/regulation updates regarding H2A migrant labor,federal and state regulations including but not limited to federal migrant and seasonal worker protection act and farm labor standards act.
• Manage Caribbean fruit fly-free protocol and EU certification of fruit.
• Manages/enforces all company food safety policies with company H2A crews and independent contractors.
• Oversees/manages all citrus canker procedures and regulations.
• Oversees/manages Global Gap requirements related to harvesting crews and equipment.
• Manages strict quality control measures and standards specific to fruit harvesting.
• Manages and reviews harvest pick rates.
• Manages and utilizes fruit size data to coordinate optimum crop efficiency.
• Assists crop procurement manager in evaluating purchase crops.
• Assists the SHL with managing and implementing the harvesting coordination of procured crops.
• Challenges the common conventions and industry norms relating to harvesting through creative thinking and teamwork.
• Ability to spend the vast majority of time traveling to and in the fields supervising/managing H2A crews, farm labor contractors,supervisors.
• Maintain a preventative maintenance program on all buses, goats, trailers etc
• Responsible for coordinating with the grove team any pre harvest fungicide applications prior to pick
• Communicates daily with grove team for updates on active PHI's for scheduling
• Additional duties as required of a regional harvesting manager.
• Assist the grove production team during off season with pest/disease scouting

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have experience in working in Citrus Harvesting and has a strong knowledge of citrus fruit quality, yield estimating, harvesting methods and practices as well as existing relationships with independent harvesting contractors and outside growers. Candidates must be able to work independently and be open to working collaboratively in teams.

• 4 year degree preferred
• Experience in citrus harvesting
• Experience in citrus crop estimating
• Ability to work collaboratively with team
• Good written and verbal communication skills

WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7am to 5 pm. During harvesting season evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

This job operates in agricultural groves and will require daily travel across the assigned region.
