Job Summary: Regulatory and Nutritional Compliance Coordinator provides support to Quality, R&D, Sales, and Corporate Management teams for the purpose of ensuring compliance with domestic and foreign food regulations and laws. The role will focus on the company’s Cultured Products portfolio. The Regulatory & Nutritional Compliance Coordinator will also be cross trained in Fluid, and Low Acid Canned products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Nutritional Compliance:

• Develop legal nutrition facts, label copy and promotional materials for all products manufactured.
• Analyze/audit all raw material component information on a rotation, or as needed, basis to determine necessity of label revisions due to new laws, ingredients, or other product modifications.
• Responsible for approval of artwork for packaging of all products manufactured at a co-packing facility for compliance with all state and federal laws.
• Assist food scientists and customer service personnel to educate and build a working knowledge of nutritional composition, food additives, and product identity.
• Direct and advise on the feasibility of health, nutrient content, structure function, GMO, allergen, and organic claims to promote products while interpreting the Code of Federal Regulations and international legal food labeling agencies.

Export Compliance

• Interpret foreign regulations to determine product’s suitability for export. Provide necessary physical, chemical, biological and regulatory information for the successful exportation of product.

Quality Assurance Compliance

• Manage quality compliance in the areas of FDA, USDA, and New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Regulations including support of food safety, Kosher compliance, and lot code traceability systems.
• Enter and maintain documents within customer portal, and internal systems

Experience & Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in assigned responsibilities may substitute for formal academic training.

Confidentiality

The Regulatory and Nutritional Compliance Coordinator is exposed to confidential customer and product information on a consistent basis. A high degree of discretion is required.

Management Responsibility

• This position is an individual contributor and will not require direct supervision of personnel
