Job description
Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY:

Our laboratory is focused on developing a vaccine for persons at risk of becoming infected with the fungal pathogen Cryptococcus. Cryptococcus has been recently identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a priority fungal pathogen. We use mouse models to evaluate different vaccine formulations and maintain a mouse colony of about a dozen different strains in support of our studies. The studies that we do involve working with mice and in evaluating their cellular responses to vaccination and infection. Some studies look at immune responses from white blood cells obtained from research subjects. Various techniques that we use routinely include microscopy, flow cytometry, ELISA, cell-based immunoassays and protein expression and purification of recombinant proteins for vaccines.
