The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

DOHMH has the mission of improving the sexual health of all New Yorkers. To achieve this, the DOHMH Bureau of Public Health Clinics provides direct clinic services to people seeking sexual health care, and services to sex partners. The Bureau operates 8 sexual health clinics throughout New York City.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a temporary staff member (e.g., a graduate student in a public health program) to assist the Research and Evaluation Unit in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Bureau of Hepatitis, HIV, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) with an STI surveillance project in the sexual health clinics. This project is focused on describing prevalence and correlates of Mycoplasma genitalium infection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Becoming familiar with project protocols
• Extracting and managing lists of patient-specimens from relational databases
• Extracting and cleaning patient data from relational databases
• Creating a dataset and documentation for analysis
• Performing basic descriptive data analysis
• Contributing to presentations and publications

• Possess intermediate data management skills
• Detail oriented
• Experience with SAS software

SALARY

This position will be hired through a staffing agency. Compensation for the position is hourly, with a rate up to $45/hour commensurate with experience.
