Summary
Texas Children’s Hospital is embarking on the creation of a large pediatric biobank, in which TCH patient samples are banked for future multi-omic studies. This activity will require research coordinators to obtain consent from patients, ensure sample acquisition, sample processing/organization, and interface between the clinicians and patients/patient families.
The Principal Investigator is seeking a talented individual to join a team focused on recruiting patients for our biobank and genomic sequencing studies . As a Research Coordinator II, the candidate will play a vital role in the success of our biobank by coordinating and implementing clinical research studies, ensuring the quality of collected samples and data, and maintaining strong relationships with study participants and clinical partners. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The coordinator will work with people from many different backgrounds, including children and their families.
Job Duties
- Interviews, screens, consents, and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
- Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database. May perform Venipuncture (blood draws), clinical history, phenotype data, and obtain vital signs on study participants.
- Experience with electronic medical record program EPIC and redcap database management (preferred but not required)
- Collects, processes, and ships samples in addition to , and maintain paperworkmaintaining paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
- Employees may be required to receive on the job training of phlebotomy prior to performing on study participants.
- Maintains records and regulatory documents and recordss for research studies.
- Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
- Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.
- Corresponds with patient throughout study.
- Orders supplies and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
