From our early days as the “Little Red Schoolhouse”, Abilities First, Inc. has always been deeply committed to providing educational programming for all school-age children at every level of disability. In addition to the services we provide in home school districts, we also offer a unique, warm, accepting educational experience for students ages 5-21 with moderate to severe disabilities. While we offer intimate instructional settings for those with special needs, we also strive to develop creative solutions to integrate our students with their more typical peers.
We are currently seeking a part time School Counselor for our school program located in New Windsor, NY. This position will provide counseling services to designated students within the school program and parent training in accordance with each student’s individual education plan. As a member of the behavior support team, this position will provide clinical recommendations based on student’s individual education plans or behavior intervention plans.
This is a part time position; 8.5+ hours per week.
Requirements:- LMSW with five years’ experience working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities; or a Master’s degree in a related field with NYS School Counseling or NYS School Psychology certification.
- Knowledge of community and state level organizations.
- Counseling experience with developmentally disabled adolescents and family training experience. School district systems experience is helpful.
- Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
