Job Summary
The Northbrook Park District is currently seeking Seasonal Grounds Workers who are available to work through the end of November 2022. We have openings in Grounds Maintenance and Athletic Field Maintenance. Both primarily work outdoors by performing work to maintain the District’s grounds, whether it be our parks or our athletic fields.

Shift Information*
Position is 40 hours per week. Must able to work various daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
(Seasonal: March - November)

Duties & Responsibilities*
Grounds Maintenance Worker

• Perform general grounds and landscape maintenance. Complete routine grounds maintenance tasks such as raking, mowing, weeding, planting, mulching and pruning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Athletic Field Maintenance Worker

• Perform general athletic field maintenance. Prepare outdoor athletic fields for use, which includes, but not limited to, fence and goal post installation, dragging and chalking the fields, and setting bases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old. Completion of four years of high school or equivalent. Must possess strong customer service skills and an ability to operate equipment and tools proficiently. Experience in grounds maintenance is preferred. Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Work is performed primarily outdoors where there is often exposure to inclement weather, odors and toxic agents.

Required to stand and talk or hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and smell. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Workers are allowed and encouraged to use mechanical or manual assists for lifting above 40lbs. as a guideline. Specific vision abilities required include close and far vision and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of machinery.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
