This seasonal part-time position with the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department - Parks/Forestry Divisions works under the general direction of the Parks and/or Forestry Supervisors and indirectly to the Deputy Director of Parks Maintenance. This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations and maintenance functions pertaining to Parks and Forestry.

Manual work may involve the use of skills acquired on the job, with employees of this class performing laboring tasks varying from manual labor which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experience, to work which requires some job-acquired skills, including use of hand tools or equipment. The work, at times, requires strenuous exertion.

Essential Functions

• Mows and trims all assigned areas.
• Performs raking and leaf pick-up.
• Prunes and mulches landscape materials.
• Picks up loose trash and empties trash receptacles.
• Assists in ground repairs.
• Operates light equipment and tools.
• Loads and unloads dirt and construction materials.
• Plants trees.
• Trims trees.
• Removes trees.
• Cleans and makes minor repairs to equipment.
• Grooms and marks athletic fields.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of directly related experience in maintenance and operations, with experience in operating light equipment preferred.
• Valid State of Missouri Driver's License.
• Must be able to work days, weekends and holidays.
