Position Title: Security and Safety Senior Manager
Location: Dallas, TX (North) or Austin, TX (South)
Reports To: Senior Director of Security and Environmental Management
Supervises: Security contractors and subcontractors
Grade: E-7
Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt
Summary:
- The Security and Safety Manager manages the daily functions of the Security department to ensure the physical safety and protection of the organization’s assets, employees, visitors and property. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Trains staff and establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Participates in education programs and contributes to communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Engages with local, state, provincial, or federal authorities to keep current with all security-related information, directives, and events. Initiates or assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Ensures productivity expectations, customer service and compliance standards are maintained. Abides by the organization’s mission in performing job duties. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service
Essential Job Functions & Expectations
- Provides leadership and assists the Sr. Director of Security and Environment Management in the organization’s safety and security programs
- Maintains an update and working knowledge of opposition actors, groups, and tactics.
- Uses open-source investigative techniques for risk management purposes.
- Collects and communicates security information timely and accurately with appropriate stakeholders.
- Increases and encourages safety and security awareness among all employees.
- Completes all record keeping requirements in accordance with property and division standards to include Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Under direction of supervisor, provides staff training for new hires and current team members relating to key safety and security concepts.
- Conducts hazard and risk assessments at the properties (and occasionally at offsite properties) to include quarterly audits, incident tracking and the hazard abatement process.
- Complies with the organization’s compliance requirements and applicable laws and safety regulations.
- Ensures all access controls are strictly adhered by enforcement of the policies.
- Follows up on all unusual activities in and around the properties that may impair the well-being of patients, visitors and employees.
- Develops liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Be on call and available to respond to incidents as required.
- Responds to critical incidents and assumes control of incident scenes until relieved by higher Incident Commander.
- May fulfill the duties of supervisor in their absence.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related professional experience or Associate’s degree + 6 years of related professional experience or High School diploma or equivalent + 10 years of related professional experience. Related professional experience in Security and Safety management or related. Experience in health care industry preferred.

- Must have excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet. Must have the willingness and ability to adapt to change including advances or new technology. Must have excellent customer service skills and be committed to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects.
