THE OPPORTUNITY

We are actively recruiting Security Guards for the 2022-23 school year. The Security Guard will maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors. The Security Guard will patrol the school property and maintain the security of buildings and grounds. The Security Guard will work during the school year (August through June).

Essential Job Functions: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, and visitors.
• Patrol and monitor hallways, stairwells, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
• Assist the staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.
• Notify the building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
• Report any safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances both verbally, along with written reports.
• Investigate, review, and report to school administration and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as appropriate, on accidents, incidents, and violations of law.
• Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification.
• Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model, reinforcing school values and culture, dressing and grooming professionally.
• Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies associated with the school.
• Protect confidentiality of records and information about students and staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
• Direct traffic and parking on campus; check vehicles for proper parking authorization; determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas.
• Follow school and network policies and administrative rules and regulations.
• Supervise and patrol assigned school activities.
• Perform other tasks as may be deemed appropriate by the Director of Safety and Security and/or Principal.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in security or law enforcement
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate preferred
• Understanding of basic security operations and applications
• Successfully pass an FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) and BCI (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation) background check

Working Conditions: Work may be performed inside or outside of the school facility with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.

Candidates must have access to reliable transportation as travel to school campuses to provide security support will be required.
