Security Monitor/Program Assistant
Job description
Working as part of a small team, the Security Monitor/Program Assistant assists in the safety and security of the Springfield Community Justice Support Center, a community based facility working with justice involved adults (male and female) experiencing addiction.
The Security Monitor/Program Assistant creates and maintains a safe and secure environment for clients, staff and other service providers located at the Center. Assisting with the random urine screening of clients and providing a positive client service experience are expectations of this position.
Other duties performed by the Security Monitor/Program Assistant include:
- Following procedures allowing clients to enter the Center
- Answering and directing telephone calls at the Center
- Monitoring educational and clinical classes/groups
- Taking accurate attendance of all clients and maintaining a communication log
- Transporting clients in program minivan when required
- Writing incident reports as needed and communicating concerns to program management
- Attending and participating in scheduled meetings and trainings.
- Preventing crisis situations from escalating by intervening and counseling clients.
- Providing support and assistance to the program to ensure a positive client experience
Education/Experience/Physical Requirements
- Associates Degree preferred or high school diploma and minimum of four years experience in social service, security or related field.
- Able to work one early evening and cover additional shifts as needed
- Possess a valid Drivers License
- Have visual and auditory acuity to assist in the safety and security of the Center.
Office of Community Corrections (OCC) Community Justice Support Centers and the Old Colony YMCA:
There are 19 CJSCs across the state with 10 operated by the Old Colony YMCA. Clients attend CJSC to participate in programs designed to improve their lives and avoid further criminal justice involvement. Each CJSC offers about 15 different programs, including cognitive behavioral treatment for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and to improve decision making, employment counseling, and Adult Basic Education, GED/HiSET, and post-secondary preparation.
