The Security Specialist will review, plan and execute all activities related to the functional areas of Mission Assurance (MA) and Physical Security for the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) Head Quarters. In addition, the Security Specialist will include administratively processing visitors at the Visitor Center building and management of numerous security requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance in all aspects of security management including investigations, inspections, clearance monitoring, and training.
- A Secret or NATO Secret clearance is required for access eligibility to enter Open Storage Secret areas and provide assistance with monitoring and maintaining classified material records and inventories, processing classified material for destruction, and security inspection assist visits to MARFORRES locations.
- Conduct security inspections assistance visits during the Base and Option Years.
- Maintain qualification and/or certification in the following security program areas:
- Information and Personnel Security Program (IPSP) Inspections
- Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP)
- Defense Information Security System (DISS)
- AMAG Electronic Security System (ESS) for access control and badging
- TRAKA Key Management System
- Cross Match Electronic Fingerprint System
- Continuous Evaluation Program
- Physical Security Program
- Antiterrorism/Force Protection Program
- Electronic Personnel and Access Control System (EPACS)
- Intrusion Detection Systems
- Key & Lock Control Program
- Visitor Control Program
- Security Management Program
- Mass Warning and Notification System (MWNS)
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) program management
- Review and process incident reports, inspection results, audits, investigations, and identity verification information and report incomplete or suspect information in direct support of continuous evaluation program standards.
- Provide a comprehensive monthly report of assigned task metrics to the Government.
- Review, plan and execute activities related Antiterrorism (AT), Force Protection (FP), Physical Security (PS), Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High-yield Explosive (CBRNe), Continuity of Operations (COOP), Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Emergency Management (EM), Operations Security (OPSEC), Pandemic Influenza (PI), and Violence Protection Program (VPP).
- Assist in conducting Program Reviews, Assessments, risk, vulnerability and physical security assessments/surveys of MARFORRES.
- Conduct site visits to provide required support on a case-by-case basis.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
No supervisory/management authority.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A High School Diploma is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- 7 years of US Military experience in a related position or field is required (U.S. Marine Corp. experience is preferred & highly desired).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert on MARFORRES policy involving Mission Assurance and Security Programs.
- Knowledge and proficiency in evaluating and training the twelve functional areas of Mission Assurance including:
- Antiterrorism
- Force Protection
- Physical Security
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High-yield Explosives (CBRNe)
- Continuity of Operations
- Foreign Disclosure
- Foreign Travel
- Critical Infrastructure Protection
- Emergency Management
- Operations Security
- Pandemic Influenza
- Violence Protection Program.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Demonstrate the ability to carry out support tasks related to security administration as presented.
- An active Secret Clearance or ability to attain one is mandatory.
- Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen.
- Cherokee Federal has suspended it’s COVID mandate. However, it’s important to note that Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently not subject to enforcement by the Federal government. Therefore, Cherokee Federal has suspended application of the mandate and continues to monitor the government’s guidance on administration of any vaccine requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is performed in a Work is performed in a federal office environment.
- Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office environment and outdoors conducting security inspections of Marine Corps Reserve HQ.
- Occasional travel and overnight stay will be required in support of Physical Security requirements.
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $60k - $65k annually
