SUMMARY
Category management position responsible for the development of sourcing strategies across multiple primary and secondary raw material categories as well as contract manufacturing, providing strategic guidance over vendor management, evaluating new and evolving supply chain with focus on vendor capabilities/innovation, business award reviews and manage sourcing stage gate process. As an advisor to management and the vendor base, this role is responsible for supporting key business meetings, providing holistic business landscape across commodity categories, and representing Bath & Body Works sourcing in strategic initiatives across categories. This team leverages 80+ vendors worldwide with approximately $800M in annual spend.
Responsible for contract manufacturing and raw material category strategies ensuring cross functional alignment across the enterprise. Accountable for identifying gaps in vendor capabilities, innovation opportunities and trends in retail with focus on category objectives, business growth and strategy. Develops team to be subject-matter-experts in core categories, including the following:
- Contract Manufacturing – Beauty/Personal Care
- Raw Materials – Beauty/Personal Care
- Develop & implement category & subcategory strategies that align supply base capabilities with business requirements
- Identify gaps and trends and lead the building of supply chain for new forms
- Develop and implement category & subcategory management strategies to optimize vendor performance
- Manage Sourcing stage gate process and review business award decisions
- Track category cost drivers and forecast business impact of market trends
- Ensure that new business awards are aligned with category strategies
- Review and validate 3rd party spend to ensure alignment to BBW strategy
- Ownership of strategic vendor relationship including new vendor onboarding process & completion
- Lead strategies for category & subcategory to improve vendor performance consistent with vendor scorecard metrics
- Responsible for supporting and negotiating the sourcing agreements and other vendor contracts
- Optimize on-going vendor strategy tools, documentation and presentation materials
- Strategy management of assigned categories in raw materials and contract manufacturing
- Support and execute cost savings and cost increase avoidance strategies in support of value engineering initiatives
- Drive innovation & determine feasibility as it relates to vendor base strategy, capabilities and developing global sourcing footprint
- Champion of Sourcing Excellence initiatives
Qualifications
- 5-7 years’ work experience in Purchasing, Operations Planning, and/or Strategic Sourcing positions preferred
- Experience in manufacturing and/or consumer goods/retail preferred
- Experience in beauty/personal care chemical markets preferred
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges with ability to influence the business at all levels
- System and computer proficiency
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated initiative and ability to achieve results.
- Ability to build and foster strong trusted advisor relationships with internal and external partners.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Business / Engineering / Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Chemistry / Finance
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, related field or MBA strongly preferred
