Purpose of Position:

Develop (from concept to implementation) new manufacturing and production processes to meet current and future semiconductor and/or specialty gases customer needs. Collaborate with Business, Operations, Engineering, and Execution teams to enable new solutions for critical processes for high technology customers around the world. Applications include ion propulsion technology for satellites, rare gas recovery in electronic, TFT-LCD and energy efficiency products like lighting and windows.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Lead development of new applications in Messer’s growing electronics business.
• Integrate the production of new products at existing sites and act as technology lead for definition and design of new facilities.
• Provide sales and technical support to Messer Americas as required
• Execute the project safely and on budget, tracking costs to provide timely updates on spend relative to budget, managing vendors and contractors and tracking schedule to complete on time.
• Interface with local permitting agencies when required
• Organize required internal activities such as safety reviews, Hazops, MOCs and punch lists.
• Deliver complete project documentation at project conclusion
• Qualify vendors, negotiate vendor pricing and bidding in conjunction with Supply Management
• Interface with Business, Operations and Project Execution teams as required
• Perform required engineering as well as manage the outsource of discipline engineering as assigned
• Oversee and approve technical aspects of electronics gases vendors.
• Oversee and approve technical aspects for installation of electronics gases systems.
• Develop concepts to improve Messer’s electronics gases supply beyond current capability and state of the art.
• The Electronics Commercial Development Engineer will support projects valued from $1MM to $40MM for green-field installations, plant relocations, plant capacity and efficiency upgrades.

Qualifications

• Technical expert in design, operating economics, and state of the art for semiconductor and/or specialty gases applications.
• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical engineer or Chemistry or applicable experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in semiconductor and/or specialty gas applications and development
• Experience in synthesis and chemical blends a plus
• Functional Skills:
  • Design and engineering of gas blending and filling systems
  • Familiarity with P&IDs and engineering drawings and design
  • Has demonstrated successful delivery of capital projects
• Managerial Skills:
  • Highly disciplined and organized.
