37.5Position Summary
A position is available in Dr. Doug Chalker's group to carry out key activities of the Tetrahymena Stock Center. The Stock Center maintains laboratory strains long-term and sends cells lines or DNA samples to researchers upon request. The individual filling this position will carry out this role as well as receive new samples for cryopreservation, reconstitution of frozen samples, and cataloging. When not performing these key functions, this individual will be involved in developing new research tools or collaborating with researchers to development strains to carry out research projects. They will also direct the work of an undergraduate research assistant tasked at making sterile media and sterilizing glassware to support this work.Performs routine experiments and responsible for day-to-day operations of lab.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments and routine procedures.
- Monitor/evaluate experiments.
- Maintain records/reports.
- Collect data from experiments.
- Perform data analysis.
- Writes interpretative reports/summaries.
- Conduct literature searches.
- May contribute to design of experimental protocols and research.
- Order lab supplies.
- Order/maintain chemical inventories.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with basic microbiological techniques.
- Experience with basic molecular biology techniques.
- Basic database management experience a plus.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or four years of equivalent education/experience in a laboratory or research setting.
Grade
R06-HSalary Range
$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Accommodation
