We are looking for a candidate who has experience with big data on large scale NAS storage servers and tape backup, is a self-starter and eager to learn and work in a growing, complex environment for our client with multiple locations in the continental US.

You will be closely working in a team of experts on maintaining our multiple Petabyte storage environment for our primary client, a fortune 50 company consisting of mixed Linux/Windows environment of physical and virtual servers (Azure) as well as Network Storage filers all connected through high-speed LAN.

The scope is to setup/configure/support our large storage & backup environment and troubleshoot issues with devices that interact with these systems on some level, mostly through a mix of NFS or SMB. You will work with all the necessary fundamental network services like DNS, NFS, DHCP and directory services as well as to improve the environment through writing scripts. You will be responsible for applying security patches and configuration changes within maintenance windows.

Job Description

• Support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS and Backup solutions across all tiers, under minimal supervision.
• Perform backup and recovery operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to tape, and tape is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Assist with maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis as defined.
• Troubleshooting day to day operational issues, reporting the environment and host related issues quickly.
• Works on assignments that are complex in nature and require judgement, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or recommended solutions.
• Interact and Co-ordinate with infrastructure team and external vendors.
• Work through the ticketing system to prioritize and communicate with end users for their IT support needs.
• Create and maintain SOP documents on daily operations and RCA of the priority incidents.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of IT hardware and software
• Perform Root Cause Analysis of infrastructure related issues.
• Produce status reports as required.
• All other duties assigned by Management

Required Skills:

• Must be US citizens or permanent residents
• 3+ years equivalent work experience required.
• Working knowledge of windows, Linux, SAN/NAS storage, backup and networks.
• understanding NFS, SMB, snapshots, replication
• Experience on Disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Excellent time management and prioritizing skills.
• Self-motivator able to take tasks or projects and run with them.
• Excellent communication, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well and collaborate with other teams of various skills.
• Strong analytical skills coupled with technical creativity and vision.
• Able to work onsite (currently 3 days a week).

Education Requirements:

BS in Information Technology/Computer Science or combination of education and equivalent work experience.

Advantageous:

• Experience with Commvault.
• Experience with HPE tape library.
• Experience with NAS storage and Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon products.
• Experience with Linux.
• Experience with brocade SAN switch.
• Experience with Vhost
