Senior Project Engineer is the liaison between the design and field teams and is responsible for assisting the project team with the planning, management, and administration of the project(s) to which they are assigned. The individual will work closely with the project team to develop/manage technical work plans, submittal documents, technical scopes of work, and to manage quality control/quality assurance.

Key elements of your day-to-day:

• Estimating:

o Issue drawings and specifications to subcontractors for bid.
o Preparation of Bidders Lists; provide the list of qualified subcontractors, reviewed with Project Manager (PM).
o Prepare quantity takeoffs as required.
o Assist Project Manager with qualifications and assumptions for bid proposals and GMP proposals for the client and Management.

• Preconstruction:

o Review front-end documents and understand the requirements expected of VGC.
o Collaborate with the operations department to identify and troubleshoot problems.
o Recommend and/or analyze materials, equipment, and practices used in the project.
o Collaborate with project staff to create a strategic action plan and cost estimates of materials, time, labor, and other resources required to complete the project.
o Ensure timely and accurate distribution of drawings and other relevant contract documents.
o Track and assist the Superintendent to schedule required pre-con meetings.

• Project management:

o Participate in jobsite safety including safety meetings, walks, and other related tasks.
o Write, transmit, and track request for information (RFI) per contract documents, and distribute to appropriate Subcontractors.
o Coordinate the assigned work tasks, prepare the project schedule and maintain the project schedule throughout the project.
o Assist and support the Project Manager with the weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings and prepare weekly meeting minutes.
o Collect and maintain as built and redline drawings during construction for project closeout.

Requirements
What you need to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or four years of experience in a construction management role.

• Strong communication skills.

• A desire to work as part of a team and solve problems.

• Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office products including Outlook and Excel.

• Working knowledge of Procore or equivalent.

• Working knowledge of Bluebeam.

• Ability to interpret project plans and drawings.

• Ability to independently manage multiple scopes of work performed by subcontractors.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
