Job Description
The Site Director is responsible for implementing and adapting the Enhanced Health and Wellness: Life Skills Enrichment (LSE) and Career Readiness Enrichment (CRE) for middle school girls in our after school programming. Lead Facilitators will be responsible for developing and leading LSE and CRE instruction using the available support and resources provided by Girls Inc. of Greater Miami, as well as assisting and supervising girls during other enrichment activities.
LSE will be “hands-on, minds-on” to engage girls in life skills training. Activities and discussions are designed to increase knowledge, strengthen self-confidence, cultivate communication and foster trusting, productive relationships among students and between students and staff.
CRE activities will help girls determine what careers are available, what their interests are, and what skills they have or need to develop. This may involve assessment and career counseling, creating individual learning plans, and soft and technical skill development, with the goal of empowering girls to access and explore careers that are stimulating and rewarding to them.
Responsibilities
- Commit to consistently and reliably facilitating programming at the school site three times weekly during the after school time;
- Use Girls Inc. resources and curriculums to develop LSE and CRE Enrichment according to the guidelines and delivery schedule;
- Prepare for and facilitate LSE and CRE Enrichment, both independently and with college interns and/or volunteers;
- Implement classroom management best practices as communicated in training;
- Attend and actively participate in professional learning and development opportunities, including but not limited to monthly facilitator workshops, biweekly surveys, and weekly check-ins
- Provide thoughtful feedback and creative input on programming based on own experience and girls’ feedback;
- Help to establish and support goals and process for family outreach and engagement;
- Maintain relationships and communication with girls and their families and provide individual support ensuring their ability to effectively engage in the program;
- Oversee the successful collection of data, including but not limited to daily attendance and Trust Central;
- Serve as the leader of the school site team and direct staff and volunteers accordingly and in a professional, respectful manner;
- Support with planning and implementation of special events/projects in conjunction with site team and other staff from Girls Inc. of Greater Miami;
- Foster communication between the site team, school administration and Girls Inc. administrative team;
- Support with planning and implementation of special events/projects in conjunction with site team and other staff from Girls Inc. of Greater Miami;
- Attend and actively participate in professional learning and development opportunities, including but not limited to monthly facilitator workshops, biweekly surveys, and weekly check-ins
Qualifications
- Bachelor’ Degree or higher;
- Three years of work experience with children including those with disabilities;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, with a focus on girls;
- Committed to working with youth from a variety of demographics and communities and possess a high level of competency in cultural, linguistic, familial, ability, etc. diversity;
- Trained or certified in life skills or Mental Health and willingness to engage in ongoing training;
- Must be punctual, prepared, have a positive attitude and adept at using a variety of lively program techniques (brainstorming, role-playing, etc.);
- Must be self-directed, detail-oriented with proven written and oral communication skills;
- Must have group facilitation skills and a commitment to developing classroom management skills;
- Must be a high-energy, caring, self-starter, innovative;
- Organized and able to effectively maintain information for planning and recording keeping purposes;
- Proficient in Google Workspace and willingness to learn Girls Inc. specific databases;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with youth, families and professionals;
- Must have a valid driver license, reliable and consistent transportation and the ability to work and travel daily, to our school site in Hialeah;
- Foster communication between the site team, school administration and Girls Inc. administrative team
- Arrange for experienced community volunteers in relevant fields to facilitate workshops and provide mentorship;
- Collaborate with students to establish a safe and positive learning environment by using Girls Inc. best practices;
- Attend and actively participate in professional learning and development opportunities, including but not limited to monthly facilitator workshops, biweekly surveys, and weekly check-ins;
- Provide thoughtful feedback and creative input on programming based on own experience and girls’ feedback;
