Davidson is seeking a Software Architect in Huntsville, AL. (Contingent upon funding)


This position is an integral part of a fast-paced, innovative product development program for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) involving the creation of advanced M&S and AI tools to add new capabilities for the war gaming community. The program works cross-functionally with innovative team members skilled in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Modeling & Simulations (M&S), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Data Analytics.

All team members should be able to:

  • Experiment with innovative theories, ideas, and concepts to expand the realm of the possible
  • Self-organize and participate in an agile development lifecycle
  • Ask questions and build consensus within a cross-functional team
  • Provide design inputs and collaborate to decompose, estimate, and refine backlog requirements
  • Communicate and collaborate through verbal and visual methods (to include diagramming, white-boarding, 1-pagers, etc…)
  • Experience Level: Senior to Mid-Career Technical Lead


High Level Role and Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will serve as Software Architect for application development that fuses the capabilities of M&S, AI, and Data Analytic
  • Candidate will focus on software components of the architecture by facilitating cross-functional communication, design, integration, and implementation within the program as part of an Agile leadership team
  • Primary duties will consist of capturing/creating artifacts (documentation, diagrams, etc.) pertaining to various capabilities under development; and exploring emerging ideas, technologies, and processes which will help inform current capabilities development and provide ideas for future program efforts (more details available during interview)

Requirements:


Currently hold BS/BBA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management, or related field with 10+ years of related work experience

  • 2+ years’ experience working on an Agile team
  • Experience using diagramming tools to communicate concepts and ideas
  • Experience creating documents and briefings for senior leaders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills

Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of work experience in a cross-functional technical role within a high-performing team.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline, DevSecOps, and automated code analysis tools.
  • Experience in containerization, microservices, and/or web app front ends.
  • Familiarity with AWS/Azure Gov Cloud solutions.
  • Familiarity with GitLab or Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of modeling and design architecture (MDA) and experience working with government organizations.
  • Experience collaborating with teams working in new and/or emerging technologies (M&S, AI, or Cybersecurity).

Clearance Requirements:
Currently holds or able to obtain Top Secret SCI Clearance
