SUMMARY: WR has a potential opportunity for a Software Engineer, Basic for the NIWC PNT Program to support the INSR/WSN 12 project.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Participates in designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting operating systems and software.
• Provides assistance to users in the development and integration of systems and environments.
• Installs and manages systems and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of systems and environments and efficiently diagnoses and resolves system problems.
• Researches, designs, and develops computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product.
• Formulates and designs software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
• Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
• Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment that interfaces with other systems.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical/electronics engineering, computer/software engineering, computer science, math, physics, or related scientific discipline.
• Four (4) years of professional experience in C, C++, C#, Visual Basic and/or other object oriented languages.
• Demonstrated software development using one or more of these languages under the Unix, Windows, Linux, and/or MS-DOS operating systems.
• Experience with contractual related project/work environment, in providing engineering support to electronic maintenance and modification systems, and in establishing processes/guidelines for electric design.
• Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on domain experience and contractual requirements
• Must be capable of working in a laboratory and shipboard environment.
