Artisun Solar, a leading Commercial, Industrial, & Agricultural Solar Developer, is a veteran owned, family operated business that continues to experience rapid growth. We are expanding our installation crews and are looking to hire an experienced, competitive, self-confident Crew Lead to run an installation crew in the Midwest who wants to grow professionally in their career.

As a crew leader, you will be the main representative for the company to both workers and clients, you will be the key person to achieve a high quality & professionally installed solar project.

Who we are looking for:

  • Someone with a solid background in construction. Your leadership skills and your extensive experience have earned you the ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions.
  • Preferable Electrical or roofing construction experience
  • Well-organized and safety conscious.
  • Someone who wants to fill a significant role within the company and not just be an anonymous player
  • A self-driven individual with the ability to work independently, outstanding integrity, willing to take responsibility for his or her own actions and performance
  • Note: This position will require traveling approximately 50% of the time. Most travel leaves Monday and returns Friday or when the project is completed (Typically 1 week).

Key Responsibilities:

· Supervise a crew of 3 to 5 installers on a daily basis.

· Ensure efficient and quality installation of solar project.

· Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment

· Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans

· Create a climate of safety and accountability within crew

· Understands all the details of the project and accurately plan for upcoming work

· Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crews

· Allocate general and daily responsibilities

· Supervise and train crew members

· Ensure manpower and resources are adequate

· Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met

· Supervise the use of machinery and equipment

· Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget

· Identify and foresee project specific issues early on and develop a Plan of Action to keep the project on schedule

· Report on progress to Project Managers

· Processes daily paperwork

· Willing and able to jump in and do whatever is needed to get the job done

· Properly use and care for company property

· Oversee and process day-to-day administrative items (Charge card receipts, personnel forms, time sheets, packing slips, DOT & OSHA reporting, etc)

· Commission project upon completion

Pre-Project Planning Functions

  • Fully understand plans, specifications and standard drawings for the Project
  • Understand full scope of the Project
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality and acceptance requirements
  • Perform Material “Take offs” and order needed material
  • Determine Crew make-up
  • Evaluate and prepare for Equipment & Material requirements
  • Establish Project Schedule & time lines
  • Develop work plan to ensure successful Project completion

Safety

  • Understand Company safety rules and regulations
  • Recognize unsafe acts or operations and do not let them continue (for all Artisun, Subcontractors, and Owner personnel)
  • Understand Project specific safety concerns
  • Review JHA forms for all operations
  • Hold weekly safety meetings with crews and task specific meetings prior to start of task
  • Constantly observe site for safe operations
  • Immediately address and correct unsafe situations

Qualifications

· Experience as a crew leader or foreman in a construction trade

· In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines

· OSHA 30 certified

· Valid Driver’s License, ability to be insured by our insurance carrier, and safe driving record

· Experience operating Telescoping forklifts.

· Understanding of electrical construction and general construction practices

· Ability to read and understand installation manuals, drawings, plans and blueprints

· Exhibits the highest level of professionalism and ethics

· Excellent organizational and leadership skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, and Word required

· Ability to learn and become proficient in Gmail suite, CRM tools, and web based estimating tools.

· Ability to travel regionally

· Accuracy and attention to detail required

· Aptitude in math

· Problem-solving abilities

· Good physical condition and stamina, ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively

· High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.)

· Repeatedly stand, walk and sit, climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, bend body downward and forward, bending at the knees, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

· Ability to ascend/descend ladders and work on rooftops

  • Ability to work long hours and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions,
  • Able to properly use tools and equipment.
  • Ability to wear active personal protective equipment. (hard hat, hearing protection, safety vest, goggles/safety glasses, respirator, etc.)
  • Ability to complete physical qualifications to maintain a valid driver s license.
  • Must pass a DOT physical qualifications to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Pass Background Check and Drug Screen
