OVERVIEW:
Construction Innovations is seeking an individual skilled in problem-solving, negotiation and relationship building to serve as a Sourcing Specialist for wire and cable. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of various types of wire and cable used in commercial, industrial and utility applications, such as medium voltage direct burial cable, ACSR cables, PV-type copper and aluminum conductors, THHN and XHHW copper and aluminum conductors, DLO cable, tray cable, SIS wire, low voltage multi conductor cables, data cable, single mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables as well as a strong comprehension of how these products are used in industry. The ideal candidate will have distributor experience, strong manufacturer relationships and pricing experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and develop relationships with manufacturers and distributors.
- Manage existing supply chain relationships with an awareness of established relationships between manufacturers, manufacturer reps, distributors and contractors.
- Maintain awareness of current product market values and negotiate with manufacturers to achieve target price points and lead times that provide a competitive edge.
- Review, adjust and report on monthly product cost projections.
- Align demand and supply forecasts with manufacturers to ensure fulfillment strategies.
- Evaluate overall direction and performance of the product categories charged with, then develop new strategies to support continuous improvement.
- Develop key performance indicators to track success of strategies.
- Manage pricing through purchase agreements (blanket orders) and trade agreements (vendor pricing).
- Serve as the company's subject matter expert with respect to product categories charged with.
- Research and communicate product specifications and data sheet information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain industry and product expertise through direct communication with manufacturers, workshops, seminars and events with a focus on product innovation and sustainable practices.
- Work with our product development and design teams to understand the company's product needs and align our purchasing strategy.
- Analyze technical drawings and specifications to expertly facilitate the procurement appropriate to the products with a focus on cost, performance and installation applicability.
- Identify skill gaps and continuous education needs.
- Facilitate training as needed for team members.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Sourcing Specialist spends most of their time in an office environment, but will occasionally be required to visit vendors and work in a warehouse environment. The office is an open and collaborative space where you will work both independently and with the team to ensure that commodities are secured at completive prices and in volumes to support the company's needs. When at the warehouse, you will be in a more traditional warehouse environment, with higher noise levels and frequent movement of people and equipment.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
This position reports directly to the Sourcing Manager.

Construction Innovations facilities are located in Sacramento, CA.
COMPENSATION:
Construction Innovations pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employees knowledge, experience and skill level.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 4-6 years experience in electrical commodity material with respect to manufacturers, products, product application & pricing.
- Strong comprehension of how electrical commodity material integrates in into the final construction product/project.
- Prior experience with integration of a supply chain management system into a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Prior experience with commercial electrical distribution is preferred.
- Awareness of current market trends, emerging technologies and competitive intelligence.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical power systems and their components.
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Technical writing experience is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
- Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
- Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift, carry at least 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds.
- Occasionally required to walk and stand.
- Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors.
- Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
