The Bier Garden is hiring for a Junior Sous Chef position. This is a full time salaried position for a fast paced coastal restaurant in the heart of Encinitas. Please respond to this ad with resume attached.

Our restaurant is searching for a creative and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team. In this position, a Junior Sous Chef operates as the assistant to the Chef and Sous Chef.

The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for the majority of duties and responsibilities of the Chef, such as inventory, kitchen staff management, and food preparation.

You should have excellent communication skills with in-depth knowledge of several cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes.

Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs.
Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.
Resolve customer problems and concerns personally.
Monitor and record inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies.
Provide support to kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.
Recruit and train new kitchen employees to meet restaurant and kitchen standards.
Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations.
Manage the kitchen team in the Executive and Sous Chef's absence.

Requirements:
A minimum of 1 year experience in a line cook role
Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
Good understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs.
Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be available to weekends and holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,400.00 - $65,000.00 per year
