The incumbent works collaboratively and consultatively across the division in the primary capacity of a consultant for the division and special assistant to the vice president. The appointee will coordinate and implement special projects consistent with divisional priorities, strategic areas of focus, and student need; projects may include combination of assessment, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of recommendations for action in line with best practices and gap analysis in the division while ensuring students are top priority. The incumbent will conduct in-depth analysis and review to prepare and present recommendations for improvements to policies, procedures, and practices in several administrative, programmatic, and operational areas across the division.

Responsibilities


Job Duty 1 -
Conduct in-depth research, analysis and review in order to prepare recommendations for improvements to organizational policies, procedures and practices in administrative/programmatic/operational areas as identified; reports shall include a general overview of the area; perform program, design, process, outcomes, needs, and/or risk assessment; identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges; and offer concrete recommendations for improvement change to align with emerging/best practices in the field and/or improve efficiency/effectiveness to realize identified goals, outcomes and desired impacts. The areas for review will be collaboratively determined with the divisional Executive Leadership Team, which includes the Vice President, Associate Vice Presidents, and Executive Director (who serves as Chief of Staff).


Job Duty 2 -

The role will provide leadership and counsel/advise the executive on initiatives, which will shift with priorities, and currently include the graduate student experience and support resources, residential life, and Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI), including belonging and onboarding for the division and chairing key leadership searches.


Job Duty 3 -

Assist with the review, on behalf of the Vice President, in collaboration with HR partners new and existing position descriptions for positions prior to posting, to ensure consistency of brand, appropriate description of qualifications, and inclusion of relevant statements regarding division and institute values; provide insight to student affairs/student services field across a variety of institutional contexts for peer/marketplace consideration.


Job Duty 4 -

Leverage existing informal and formal networks and communication streams, across a broad range of professional disciplines, to ensure broad communication regarding the division's initiatives and announcements of partnership, employment and research opportunities.


Job Duty 5 -

On behalf of the vice president, serve as a liaison for stake holders on "high priority" searches to ensure timelines remain on track and collaborate with institute partners and stakeholders to train, coach and advise search committees on best practices in recruiting and hiring, including Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA)


Job Duty 6 -

Work with the division's Communications & Marketing department to develop and disseminate language and messaging that will position and brand Georgia Tech's Division of Student Engagement & Well-being as both student affirming and focused and as a division that provides a rewarding opportunity for career advancement, career development, personal impact, and professional achievement.


Job Duty 7 -

Serve on ad hoc committees, work groups and similar entities as assigned and as needed to advance core initiatives of the division

Perform other related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Graduate Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience: Terminal degree, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Doctor of Education (EdD) or related field

Required Experience
Ten or more years of job-related experience

KNOWLEDGE
Work related experience, knowledge, skills & abilities:

1). Significant years of progressively responsible experience in the higher education student affairs/student services field, ideally at a cabinet-level officer position, with depth and breadth across a number of administrative, operational and programmatic areas Specifically: former Student Services Affairs Officer, or Associate Vice President

2). Demonstrated understanding of the current state of the student affairs/student services profession, as well as the emerging/evolving trends in the field, and what professional capacities, training and background are needed to respond accordingly and contribute effectively at varying levels of the organization, given Georgia Tech's unique institutional context and strategic priorities

3). Strong regional and national collegial networks across a range of higher education disciplines including and beyond student affairs/student services, as well as familiarity with best practices in effective search, recruitment, review and selection processes

4). Proven capacity to advance and sustain inclusive excellence in the higher education setting

5). Substantial experience in organizational development, change management leadership, process mapping, and institutional review/quality improvement activities

Conditions of Employment


This is a LIMITED TERM position through September 2023. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding, business needs, and your performance of the assignment. Georgia Tech retains the right to terminate this assignment at any time for cause or, in its sole discretion, for convenience; in either case, Georgia Tech’s obligation shall be limited to payment for hours and/or days worked prior to the termination date.
