Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the leadership of the Director of Communications and the Communications Manager, this position will aid all major functions of the Communications Department to better communicate the efforts of the homeless rehousing system to address homelessness in Los Angeles County; LAHSA’s role and positive impact in that work; and how our community has more work to do to address the factors that push more people into homelessness.
Essential Job Functions
- Play a supportive role of LAHSA’s media relations, digital communications, and internal communications efforts helping the Communications Department work quickly and efficiently.
- Draft content/writing material for internal communications (newsletters, blog posts, social media content, LAHSA website content, etc.).
- Provides administrative support, including but not limited to, scheduling, sending meeting invitations, helping the team stay organized, and scribing notes as needed and tracking items in progress.
- Support the team in the execution and monitoring of communications operations.
- Own team organizational documents, such as calendars and project timelines among others.
- Experience with a combination of PowerPoint, graphic design software, email marketing software, video editing software.
- Coordinate cross-functionally on the development of blog posts, social media, talking points, presentation decks, marketing emails, and video development.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 1 year experience in a corporate, nonprofit, or government communications role.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Have familiarity with social media trends across all social channels. Content creation/video editing experience a plus but not mandatory.
- Has robust project management skills and is highly organized with strong ability to effectively prioritize projects with conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to work as a team player and collaborator.
- Able to research and find new innovative ways to deliver public facing LAHSA news.
- Demonstrates strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Mindset and core values of service to the greater good, transparency, collaboration and teamwork.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Training & Experience
- Proven professional experience and educational background.

Pay: $64,272.00 - $81,305.46 per year
