Job description
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a talented human resources professional to fill the role of Employee Relations Specialist. This person will be responsible for conducting and managing employee relations investigations as assigned from point of notice through closure in accordance with HFHI’s relevant policies. This role will primarily be focused on the U.S. and will be aligned to the Global People Team with a dotted line to HFHI’s Governance, Risk Management and Compliance department.

This position may be based remotely within the U.S.

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations (60%)
  • Facilitates and manages employee relations investigations with an ability to remain tactful, calm, respectful and fair.
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Ability to manage cases with varying levels of complexity (i.e., up to and including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, etc.).
  • Provides guidance and recommendations regarding investigation outcomes.
  • Leverages dispute resolution techniques.
  • Maintains knowledge of current employment laws.

Consulting & Partnership (30%)
  • Works in partnership and consultation with the U.S. based HR business partners.
  • Partners with legal and others as needed/required.

Data Insights (10%)
  • Analyzes information and data to discern trends and makes recommendations where needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in human resources.
  • 2+ years of experience in conducting fact-finding around employee relations complaints and assisting in the resolution of complex employee relations issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
  • High attention to detail and organized.
  • Quick learner, highly flexible and adaptive.

Preferred:

  • Certifications in the areas of conflict resolution, employee relations investigations or forensic investigations, etc.
  • Certifications or relevant experiences related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
