Work Schedule: 40 hours/week

JOB SUMMARY

The Specialist I, Employee Relations is responsible for the initial intake of various types of employee relations concerns. This position also supports Goodwill’s unemployment process by receiving, reviewing, processing, and responding to all of Goodwill of Colorado’s unemployment claims. In addition, this role provides a range of administrative tasks and support. You'll collaborate with our team of motivated and passionate professionals, where your input will be valued and your contributions vital to our success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employee Relations:

  • Supports the Leave Specialist by being the first point of contact for all ADA accommodation-type requests (that are not associated with FMLA)
  • Supports the Employee Relations team by being the first point of contact for all initial reports within our data management system; this may include initial phone calls from employees that may have a concern.

Unemployment:

  • Reviews, processes, and responds to all unemployment insurance claims.
  • Ensures that all forms and documentation are completed with detailed and accurate information.
  • Communicates with HR, management, and/or Risk to discuss separation reasons.
  • Files appeals and raises chargeable decisions when appropriate.
  • Maintains unemployment tracking and reporting.
  • Maintains knowledge of all Company policies and procedures related to the most common reasons for separation.
  • Processes and tracks quarterly unemployment invoices.
  • Meets all unemployment pre-determined time limits and guidelines.
  • May assist the Employee Relations team in unemployment hearings.

Administrative Support:

  • Will assist in approving HRIS workflows
  • Completes weekly audits of new hires and updates HR Information System (HRIS) accordingly. Assists employees and managers with HRIS password resets.
  • May provide assistance to new hires in the Denver area (I-9’s/E-Verify process)
  • Records, tracks and processes payment requests for the Employee Referral Program.
  • Records, tracks, and files vendor invoices and assigns proper expense codes for processing.
  • Will assist in distributing/receiving HR faxes.
  • Responds to and completes assigned HR Helpdesk tickets.
  • Directs any incoming calls to the appropriate team member and answers general questions.
  • Completes employment verifications, as requested.
  • Participates in special projects relating to Human Resources, as requested.
  • Completes a variety of other in-office administrative duties.

Other

  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all personnel and other sensitive matters.
  • Works flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays if required.
  • Performs any other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years experience in a high-volume, administrative capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some HR and/or unemployment experience is preferred. Candidate must be a self-starter and ability to work independently. Must have strong skills with computer applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have a high-level of professionalism and always be personable with excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to follow policies and procedures and be flexible.

Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle.
