SQUAD LEADER, OBSERVABILITY PLATFORM INTEGRATIONS – DIRECTOR

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Lead to lead a dedicated team of software engineers developing the integration fabric that will enable the future Fidelity Observability platform at scale. The successful candidate will create and drive the Observability Integrations roadmap that blends scalable automation and security within multi hybrid cloud environment in support of Fidelity’s digital transformation.

The Team

Fidelity’s Cloud and Platform Engineering (CAPE) mission is to power the next generation of Fidelity digital services through innovation, collaboration, and transparency. Modern computing paradigms, cloud computing and open source software offer tremendous potential to accelerate development and drive down costs. Within CAPE, architecture, infrastructure, development tools, security, operations and cloud business office functions work together in agile, delivery-oriented teams to build/configure/sustain internal and external cloud platforms with development ecosystems.

The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.

  • Proven leadership skills, demonstrated ability to quarterback engineering teams to deliver scalable robust solutions.

  • Forward thinking and strategic approach to be able to recognize and connect patterns to both enhance and simplify cloud-based development

  • Expertise in Observability technologies and practices and well-grounded in the knowledge of engineering and continuous delivery practices.

  • Expertise with multiple observability SaaS providers such as Datadog, Splunk and Cloud Providers such as AWS/Azure

  • Deep understanding of opensource observability ecosystem in particular OpenTelemetry

  • Understanding of the different Observability approaches and how to apply them and when. In particular experience with Synthetics and Rum(Browser & Mobile)

  • Deep understanding and experience in developing security controls in public cloud

  • You have a solid understanding of IT services, IT Service Management in an Enterprise context and cloud delivery models including IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS; automation; containers; auto-scaling, virtual compute, storage, and networking; identity and access management; configuration management, incident management, problem management, asset management, logging and audit.

  • Passionate about technology and delivering solutions to solve business problems using cloud native technologies

  • Extensive experience providing observability integrations for complex and varied technology stacks

  • Extensive architecture experience designing and building highly scalable & resilient cloud solution with properly managed cloud cost in mind

  • Deep understanding on how to design and operate platform-wide services to solve complex problems.

  • Experience working with vendors to drive roadmap and requirement conversations.

  • Extensive hands-on cloud (AWS & Azure) engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of coding patterns and engineering best practices.

  • Extensive experience with CI/CD practices and technologies.

  • Exceptional mentoring and coaching skills.

  • Recognized for driving decisions collaboratively and ensuring follow through with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder leadership skills and the ability to manage priorities and capability requirements aligned to business needs.

  • Passionate about working in a DevOps culture.

The Value You Deliver

  • Create, maintain, & communicate the multi-year strategy and roadmap for Fidelity’s observability integrations

  • Partner with teams across the firm to enable delivery of key capabilities to facilitate adoption of the cloud

  • Investigate, prove out and incorporate new technologies and capabilities to drive the technology vision for Fidelity’s secure cloud platforms.

  • Maintaining and containing business risk, instilling the North Star of ‘protect the firm’ across all cloud environments.

  • Collaborate with other product and engineering leads and senior management on product and delivery requirements, roadmaps and vision.
