The primary focus of this role will be to design, develop, and manage analytical tools and reporting for the Amazon DSP Services team within Amazon Ads. The Amazon DSP Services team supports customers using Amazon DSP, which is a demand-side platform that allows brands to programmatically buy ads to reach new and existing audiences on and off Amazon. Our vision is to provide the gold standard of customer service and programmatic expertise for our customers. The team is constantly looking for new ways to improve the customer experience, whether by improving campaign performance, optimizing team utilization, delivering training and certifications, etc. We require data analysis and insights to drive business decisions around our services and programs. Your main customers would be Amazon DSP Services leadership, managers, Program Managers, and partner teams (e.g. Sales, Product.)
Day in the Life
To be successful in this role, you should have broad skills in database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience building self-service dashboards and using visualization tools, always applying analytical rigor to solve business problems. You should have strong business and communication skills and be able to work closely with Amazon Ads stakeholders to define key business questions and build data sets and models that answer them. Our Business Intelligence teams are expected to have a detailed understanding of our business and never lose sight of the broader problems that we are trying to solve. In addition to leading the design, development, and management of our analytical tools and reporting, we will also look to this person to provide thought leadership and business analysis support as needed.
You are comfortable with ambiguity and moving fast, helping the business make quick decisions, as well as diving deep and conducting research to find the best available data and insights. You are passionate about data visualization, knowing which formats work best to communicate with stakeholders.

Day in the Life
- Join our biweekly sprint meeting in the office or remotely—your choice
- Review incoming requests for a new dashboard related to campaign performance and provide prioritization and ETA
- Meet with leadership and program managers to understand data needs for an upcoming strategic initiatives
- Present a new metric in a weekly business review, fielding questions about the underlying data and calculations
- Send a launch announcement about a new version of a tool you developed to help the team understand customer health, highlighting new features and bug fixes
- Spend some quality, uninterrupted time building a new dataset using SQL, which will unlock insights on advertiser retention
- Brainstorm with the team on the right method to generate a new metric requested by senior leadership

- Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs
- Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions
- Write SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, DBs), and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources, to know how, when, and which to use and which not to use
- Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting

- MBA or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or related field
- Expert in writing and tuning SQL scripts
- Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Java, C++)
- Experience working in very large data warehouse environments
- Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making
- Experience with AWS Glue or ETL
