Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as Sr. Business Systems Analyst!

About the role
As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, you will manipulate the behavior and/or the structure of an application using an application’s inherent tool set. You will also configure business rules, workflows, forms, and user interfaces to support business processes for medium to large sized system modifications.

In this role, you must use sophisticated analysis skills to identify, and complete solutions for medium to large system modifications. You will also mentor less experienced Business Systems Analysts and performs peer reviews on their work.

What you will do
  • Execute system configuration including data architecture, user interface design, workflow, business rule, and XML changes
  • Design and document system integration/configuration as required
  • Plan and coordinate movement of code between various technical environments and participate in large system implementations. Accurately estimate and deliver on work assignments
  • Independently prepare business and system requirements documentation for specific portions of an overall system or process
  • Craft process design for the highest risk and most complex systems and processes including user acceptance testing (writing complex test cases, implementing, and creating solutions)
  • Translate user requirements, write technical specifications, and work closely with development resources on use cases, flowcharts, and technical design
  • Provide day to day production support including urgent problem resolution and 24x7 on call support
  • Analyze functional application design and develop/test detailed programs for complex components
  • Participate in requirements definition, design walkthroughs, and code reviews
  • Conduct testing of system changes done by other Business Systems Analysts and facilitates quality assurance testing for system modifications
  • Complete responsibility and accountability for performing the most sophisticated, cross-functional, and cross-departmental business systems and process analysis and develops reports using various reporting tools and supports data management for system.
  • Use application development tools and methodologies across multiple platforms

Compensation

Salary Range: $86,800 – $144,700 plus eligibility for annual bonus program


Your experience and skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 years of related work experience, 3-5 years’ experience with system configuration
  • Basic understanding of enterprise systems
  • Advanced understanding and ability to apply analysis techniques
  • Insurance or financial services industry background highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to build relationships within the immediate team and across the enterprise
  • Able to mentor and coach others
  • Presentation and meeting facilitation skills
  • Analytical ability and inquisitiveness
  • Detailed understanding of IT systems landscape and how upstream or downstream systems will be affected by changing a particular system or component
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to lead team members via example and by functioning as a subject matter expert on system configuration capabilities
  • Able to design and configure new system solutions
