JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is accountable for complex accounting issues and transactions, analysis of financial results for both the consolidated reporting entity and individual subsidiaries, and other activities to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of Arconic’s financial results for both internal and external purposes. The candidate would be required to analyze and evaluate accounting policies and transactions; analyze, test, and report financial data; and participate in the preparation of financial reports for use by senior level management. The candidate would also be required to add interpretive value and context on accounting matters through consultation with Business Unit and Resource Unit management. The successful individual will report through the Controllership organization and will work closely with other members of the Controllership team, as well as Shared Services, Procurement, Commercial, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, and Business Unit and Resource Unit colleagues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluating, documenting, and concluding on complex accounting issues and financial transactions identified/ proposed by Resource Unit, Business Unit, and operating location personnel
- Developing and implementing procedures for new accounting pronouncements and global accounting and reporting standards
- Provide oversight, maintain, and update the Arconic accounting policy manual, which is used by both financial and nonfinancial personnel
- Analyzing monthly financial results of legal entities and summarizing findings for review by senior management
- Assisting with the review of public and non-public financial filings
- Managing ongoing relationships with personnel within an assigned Business Unit customer base and within the various Resource Units
- Working with our external auditors to ensure appropriate accounting conclusions and strong internal controls are maintained.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration/Management from an accredited institution
- 7 years of experience in Public Accounting with focus on public company clients
- 3 years of U.S. GAAP accounting experience
- Knowledge of and experience with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Certified Public Accountant
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution
- 5 years of experience in Public Accounting with a Big Four accounting firm
- Manufacturing experience with a concentration in the metals industry
- Extensive knowledge of accounting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements
- Experience with implementing new U.S. GAAP accounting standards such as revenue recognition or lease accounting
- Technical expertise in a broad range of U.S. GAAP accounting areas including but not limited to revenue recognition, lease accounting, impairment of long-lived assets, goodwill valuations, inventory (including cost accounting) and restructuring
