We're looking for a driven and self-motivated fashion merchandiser to join our team to develop clothing collections, meet with new vendors, and create buying plans for the whole category. This will be a hybrid role of buyer/merchandiser with a splash of fashion design to tweak existing styles and communicate to current vendors. Responsibilities:

• Ensure the financial success of one or more departments by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals
• Formulate guidelines for style and customer choices (style OTB) based on business analysis
• Create buying plans to maximize inventory and sales levels
• Monitor sales of current styles on a weekly basis
• Forecast sales and inventory levels needed to meet sales goals
• Develop markdown strategies for merchandise based on sell-through percent and planned lifespan of product.
• Develop exit plan for stale merchandise
• Communicate with factories for production
• Analyze sales to determine brand direction
• Visit trade shows and communicate with current vendors about new styles
• Keep constant flow of new clothing and accessories added to the store every week

Creative Responsibilities:

• Follow style trends
• Create a range plan for all clothing
• Supervise the product development when needed (for example: developing a line of graphic tees etc)
• Select bodies, trims, colors, patterns for approved bodies
• As samples come in, make any adjustments needed to improve the style and effectively communicate that to the vendors.
• Attend fittings for products
• Attend photoshoots

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in merchandising or equivalent analytical role
• Strong statistical analysis skills
• Knowledge of global sourcing and taking a product to market
• Strong understanding of ideal customer and their needs
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Detail-oriented (this is a deal-breaker)
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Excel, and Photoshop is a huge plus
• Strong knowledge of fabric/yarn construction
• Love for fashion, design, and yoga
