SUMMARY:

The senior staff accountant will oversee general accounting operations by maintaining and processing various financial transactions, analyzing financial reports, and presenting information to the senior management team.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in a non-smoking office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer. This position interacts with all employees throughout the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions
• Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
• Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
• Prepare financial statements

• Assess and strengthen internal controls, including risk management by developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies
• Performs monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position variance analyses
• Assist management in the design and preparations of annual budgets
• Assist in tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance

• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules
• Ensures security of financial information by creating backup systems
• Supervise and manage junior accounting staff
• Protects company assets and value by maintaining confidentiality
• Follows all company policies and procedures

• Has knowledge of and adheres to finance laws and regulations
• Assist with other accounting projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of proven accounting experience as accounting supervisor, senior accountant or equivalent position
• Must have experience in popular financial software

• Hospitality experience preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
