The staffing coordinator is a key member of the Meridell Team who is responsible for managing the staffing schedules for a behavioral healthcare facility (Meridell). The staffing coordinator will work with all nursing managers and directors to ensure there is adequate employee coverage while minimizing avoidable premium pay through effective scheduling strategies. Also, ensure Units are staffed at the appropriate budgeted level and volume-adjusted schedule changes are made while balancing optimal utilization of employees with consistent quality care and labor spent.
Key Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintains daily staff attendance records and reviews for trends, prepares and distributes corrective actions concerning attendance.

Is knowledgeable of record retention requirements and maintains logs for auditing purposes.

Serves as a liaison with Staff with respect to work schedules.

Negotiates schedules balancing staffing needs, employee schedule preferences and financial performance.

Personally responds to emergency situations and call-offs to ensure center coverage. When not available to respond, ensures all Nurse and MHT Managers are briefed daily on the call-off protocol to ensure adequate response and coverage.

Minimizes open positions and optimizes employees’ schedules by performing Position Control Analysis in collaboration with Nurse Management. Communicates both position control results and open positions to Administrator and Recruiting.

Coordinates required training opportunities for Behavioral and Neurobehavioral Units based on employee certifications/licensures due dates and other educational opportunities to maintain appropriate compliance.

Reconciles schedules daily to Payroll.

Reviews timecards daily to ensure proper authorization of time adjustments and overtime. Reviews and resolves payroll report exceptions prior to payroll distribution.

Maintains confidentiality with respect to all employee information including but not limited to schedule preference, rates and payroll.

Communicates expectations of the employee’s role in optimizing their schedules to meet facility’s needs for new employees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma, college preferred.
- Experience: At least two years experience working in the mental health field preferably with children and adolescents. Previous scheduling experience preferred.
- License/Certification: N/A
- Skills: Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills. Must be proficient in computer data entry. Must have a good working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, word, and email system
- Essential Physical Requirements: Work is demanding mentally; requires walking, standing and sitting for at least six hours a day processing paperwork for schedules and extensive time on the telephone.
