Description
The buyer's main responsibility is purchasing parts and supplies needed for the plant. This requires the buyer to be in contact with many vendors and to develop relationships with those vendors.
Qualifications
Have ability to understand verbal and written instructions from Plant supervision and efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks.
Must demonstrate a willingness and capability to learn.
Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for the job skill and job area.
Have knowledge of and demonstrate ability to submit work requests.
Know, understand and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and the ability to use electronic equipment pertaining to the job. (i.e. Computers, scanners, etc…)
Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Oracle.
Demonstrate ability to reconcile Purchase Orders received through GENPAC. Ability to communicate both verbally and written with customers, co-workers and management.
Must possess excellent organizational and filing skills.
Provide excellent customer service. Support, enforce and follow all procedures of the Material Management (MRO) guideline.
Must be able to learn and demonstrate ability to generate reports out of computer systems.
Must be able to interact professionally with vendors and contractors in order to negotiate pricing and maintain inventory and cost goals.
Assist all plant personnel with acquisitioning of Storeroom materials.
Demonstrate the ability to research and resolve inventory issues utilizing computer tracking systems.
Assist with weekly “Operational Supply” kitting operation, as needed.
Assist with weekly “Down day” kitting operation, as needed. Expedite materials to meet work order material requirement dates. Adhere to corporate buying agreements.
Track vendor performance on late deliveries, incorrect shipments, damaged and defective goods.
Manage additions, deletions and changes to the system Purchase Order database. Consolidate purchase orders.
Verify approved purchase requisitions against stores inventories. Manage additions, deletions and changes to the Vendor database.
Perform any other duties as directed by supervision.
