Job Summary:
The Lansing Community College Technical Careers Division, offering over 30 programs in which we focus on providing students with high quality education and training, including significant hands-on learning opportunities, is seeking committed and dynamic student employees to assist our exceptional students, faculty, and staff. Student staff in the Welding Lab are responsible for assisting both instructors and lab assistants during scheduled class times, in addition to preparing and maintaining the lab before and after classes.
- Provide information on lab safety to students and visitors
- Ensure that lab safety procedures are followed at all times
- Ensure that the lab is clean, orderly and properly prepared for each class
- Assist students, faculty and lab assistants during class time as requested
- Assist in maintaining lab equipment
- Assist in inventorying and maintaining supplies for the lab
- Complete work requests for faculty and lab assistants
- Work with faculty and lab assistants on projects as requested
- Other responsibilities as needed
The successful applicant must be dependable, a self-starter, outgoing, fast learner, and able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ideal candidate will be a student in the Welding Program. This position may require daytime and evening hours.
Requirements for LCC Student Employment:
- Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period)
- 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it is the student's first semester of enrollment at LCC or approval to waive requirement is granted from the Student Employment Coordinator)
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits min. (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits min. (taken over 8-week period)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.00 GPA or higher
- Actively pursuing an Associate’s degree or certificate at LCC, preferably in Welding Technology
