Position Summary

The Student Research Worker will report to the Principal Investigator(s) and Research Project Managers of Industry sponsored and clinical research projects at the Center for Translational and Computational Neuroimmunology (CTCN) and Multiple Sclerosis Center. Under the supervision of investigators and Research Project Managers, the candidate will implement clinical research protocols and provide support in identifying, recruiting, and consenting participants. The candidate will complete study visits both in-person and/or through telehealth. Visits will include in evenings and on weekends. The incumbent will collect, process, and ship bio-specimens for protocols as assigned. The candidate will also complete data entry and data queries. The candidate may also interface with various hospital departments such as medical records, radiology, nursing, information technology services, and others as needed. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the investigators and project managers, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting study recruitment and study participants enrollment
  • Consenting eligible patients
  • Assisting organization and preparation of research files.
  • Conducting a study visit in-person or via Zoom (visits will include in evenings and on weekends)
  • Assisting in medical chart reviews.
  • Creating research charts and complete case report forms consistent with GCP, FDA, HHS, and institutional guidelines.
  • Performing data entry and quality assurance checks for administered assessments and questionnaires.
  • Completing data queries.
  • Collecting, processing and shipping research bio-specimens for protocols assigned.

Performing other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program to obtain a BA or BS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former research background preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Computer literacy.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and flexibility.
