Department of Medicine: Allergy and Infectious Diseases has an outstanding opportunity for Part Time Research Study Coordinator 1.

The Research Study Coordinator will be involved in providing varied support functions in as a part of a large multi-site randomized-controlled trial (RCT) to assess the efficacy of a pharmacotherapy for methamphetamine use disorder (MUD). This position will operate out of the Positive Research space at Harborview Medical Center in the Allergy and Infectious Diseases division and will be funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s Clinical Trials Network (CTN). The Research Study Coordinator will be an integral team member whose role encompasses contacting study participants, collecting data, scheduling research visits, administering surveys to participants, assisting study medical clinicians, and coordinating office activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Collection Activities
  • Recruit subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies, such as reaching out

  • to healthcare providers for referrals, visiting clinics, sending mailouts, using approved advertisements, etc.

  • Performs screening and enrollment study participants, including explaining research procedures, and obtaining informed consent of subjects and/or their families.

  • Schedules appointments of study participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or sends mailouts. Maintains participant tracking logs to keep track of when follow-up visits are due.

  • Administer study questionnaires, and coordinate the collection/storage/transportation of blood and urine samples

  • Collect study data and reviews the data collection forms for each participant for completion and quality.

  • Data entry and performing periodic data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the data.

  • Comply with Good Clinical Practice standards.

  • Comply with study protocol and standard operating procedures.

  • Track study supply inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.


  • General Office Support
  • May assist in performing study administrative duties such as answering phones, picking up and delivering mail, storing and distributing office supplies, handling faxes, scanning, filing, photocopying, collating materials, maintaining policy manuals, etc.

  • Participate in staff meetings and training.


  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience as a research study assistant
    OR equivalent education/experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent problem solving, communication skills, and the ability to work with a team

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and flexible


  • DESIRED:

  • Prior experience with substance using populations or other vulnerable populations, and in research methods is highly desirable. Experience in healthcare settings, including familiarity with medical terminology, is also highly desirable.
