Addiction Research and Treatment Services has an opening for a Full-Time University Staff (unclassified) Substance Use Disorder Treatment Counselor (Health Care Professional – Open Rank) position.

Jobs in this career family are responsible for performing a wide range of professional duties to support the university's teaching, research and/or service missions through the provision of health and wellness services, dealing with general, indirect patient care operations and management of healthcare services. Functions include hospital administration, healthcare regulatory compliance, patient relations, operational services, admissions, and medical records. Includes professional assignments in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, counseling and behavioral health, public health, dietetics and nutrition, other allied health fields, alternative medicine and therapies, and related disciplines.
- Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
- Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. This position provides drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial, and pharmacological treatment to adults who are living with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). This clinical position is responsible for performing counseling duties and will be supervised by a senior counselor, a Clinical Team Lead, and/or the Clinic Manager. This position will primarily work with patients who are participating in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), referred from probation departments and with opioid dependent patients and/or other referral sources (i.e. department of social services). This position is required to share on-call and Saturday coverage duties. Evening hours may be necessary as well. Some positions are morning shifts (6:00am-2:30pm) and others may be day/afternoon shifts (10:30am-7:00pm).
Job Duties:
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing assessments of clients for admission to treatment
- Performing SUD evaluations
- Completing patient intakes (new, returning, internal transfer, external transfer, etc.)
- Performing group, individual and family counseling
- Using evidence-based practices for treating offender and criminal-justice involved populations
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in patient charts
- Developing and carrying out individualized treatment plans and case management duties as needed to meet the needs of external sources as well as linking client's treatment progress to referral sources
- Completing monthly billing report and statistics
- Assessing and collecting fees from clients
- Staffing on-call shift rotations
- Coverage of clinic front desk as needed, with occasional partial Saturday shift requirement
- Work closely with problem solving courts, the Veterans Administration, Department of Social Services/Human Services, and/or other referral sources.
- Performing other work as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
Entry Professional
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or another closely-related field.
- Less than 1 year of professional experience in Mental Health, Behavioral Health or closely-related field, case management, research of Mental Health, Behavioral Health or closely-related field.
- Possess a valid registration in good standing with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Certified Addictions Technician (CAT), Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS), Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPC-C), Social Worker Candidate (SW-C), Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFT-C), or Registered Psychotherapist/Unlicensed Psychotherapist (NLC).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or another closely-related field.
- Experience working in a counselor role with clients who are involved with probation, human services, social services, criminal justice programs, and/or other referral sources.
- Experience conducting, leading, or co-leading group counseling sessions.
- Experience working in a counselor role with opioid-dependent, adult clients.
- Experience conducting individual and/or family counseling.

- Possess a valid registration in good standing with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Certified Addictions Technician (CAT), Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS), Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPC-C), Social Worker Candidate (SW-C), Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFT-C), or Registered Psychotherapist/Unlicensed Psychotherapist (NLC).

Preferred Qualifications:

Salary and Benefits:
The annual salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: Senior Professional $60,000 to $67,000, Professional $56,300 to $62,000 and Entry Professional $51,700 to $56,900.
This position may be eligible for a one-time recruitment incentive up to $1,000. Details of this one-time recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and/or training. This position is NOT eligible for overtime compensation.
