POSITION SUMMARY: Manage, direct, evaluate and continuously improve the day to day activities of hourly personnel. Establish priorities, schedule work flow, and delegate work to meet on-time delivery commitments. Develop the skills of all employees to create and promote an environment of involvement and continuous improvement: recognizing, rewarding and taking corrective measures as appropriate. Adhere to Whitcraft’s and customers’ standards and compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Manage and direct overall activities and coordinate product flow to meet on-time delivery, quality and profit objectives.- Plan, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of hourly employees assigned to achieve a quality product at the lowest possible cost.
- Ensure employees are instructed and trained to accurately report their daily activities.
- Enforce work rules. Counsel, discipline, and reprimand employees if required. Maintain written records.
- Plan and assign overtime work and maintain overtime rotation list.
- Ensure a safe work place through enforcement of safety rules, instruction of employees in safety procedures and rules, and timely response to potential or actual hazards. Complete accident reports.
- Ensure that the proper types of quantities of tools, supplies, materials, and equipment are available to perform the required work to specifications and standards.
- Ensure employees are properly instructed in the quality specifications of their operation
- Continually look for means or methods that will reduce cost and/or improve quality.
- Communicate with all levels of the organization concerning capabilities, performance and needs of the work group required to meet business goals and objectives.
- Provide effective and efficient management leadership
- Monitor and manage employee productivity and efficiency regularly
- Manage overall good housekeeping of areas, holding employees accountable for their respective areas
- Apply lean methodologies to the day to day operation and improve current processes with well defined standard work.
- Use safe practices and work to maintain a safe working environment
- Supervise the department knowing the processes, duties, machinery, tools, and goals.
- Locate causes of quality problems and establish effective correction action
- Recommend alternate processing methods, as needed, to maintain schedule requirements, improve quality, or reduce unit costs.
- Assures effective and continual communication between various shift supervisors

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute & interpret rate, ratio, percent and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing to meet job requirements
- Ability to run machinery, equipment and use precise measuring tools as needed.
- Understand the specific qualifications of the department to meet the requirements of the job.
EDUCATION: A minimum of three to five years experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Must have knowledge of the specific responsibilities in the department assigned to meet the qualifications of the job.
