HOURS: 8am - 5pm M-F

  • This position requires you to work in the Rockford, IL office.
Essential Responsibilities include the following:
  • Train and educate Coordinators; identify opportunities for improvement and formulate strategies to strengthen their abilities to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
  • Review Landstar Service Incident Reports (LSIRs) to ensure the proper handling of issues according to departmental procedures.
  • Resolve escalated problems with field personnel, capacity, agents, customers and employees.
  • Review requests for termination or unapproval of capacity.
  • Monitor S.M.A.R.T. goals for Coordinators; work with management to determine further measures of performance.
  • Monitor and manage the phone system to ensure proper coverage.
  • Ensure monthly metrics of individual coordinator and department statistics are compiled and distributed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service trends among Agents, Capacity and Customers.
  • Set an example, work closely and cooperatively with other departments within Landstar.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing departmental processes.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings.
  • Support specific accounts, agents or projects, as requested (may require travel).
  • Administer company business funds, when needed.
  • Achieve Supervisory S.M.A.R.T. goals as set forth.
  • Administer employee files timely and accurately.
  • Availability to travel occasionally, if needed.
  • Availability to be on-call 24/7 in case of an emergency.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 9-15 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and measuring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Continuously review for process improvement opportunities.

Required Skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Good typing skills, 35+ WPM
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and Internet
Working knowledge of iSeries400 operating system
Ability to analyze and implement projects to meet customer needs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, preferred
Education and/or Experience

Minimum Education: High school diploma, required; or general education degree (GED), required; Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred.

Minimum Experience: One-year related experience and/or training (customer service, sales, transportation); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, comprehend and interpret instructions, technical procedures and governmental regulations
Ability to write routine and business correspondence, reports and processes
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations involving customers, clients, the general public and other employees of the organization
Ability to read, write and speak English
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
